A reader by birth, paper-pusher by trade and writer by design, storytelling is my passion.
I founded Sweet Banana Ink based on my fanatical belief that writers should support and promote each other.
I'm on a mission to cultivate and celebrate creative community. I invite you to join me!

My Blurb:
The name on my birth certificate reads: Ruth Long, but I’m pretty sure that’s just the identity the witness re-location folks slapped on my paperwork after that little incident at the maternity ward, the one that was swept under the carpet like yesterday’s dust bunnies. I answer to ‘Bookworm’ on a regular basis, have changed my last name more times than advisable and decided to brand myself with the moniker Bullish when I finally got serious about writing.
My day job at a small town mortuary affords me the odd dull moments to indulge my inky obsession, thanks to its broad job description that basically boils down to: “Jane-of-all-Trades, specializing in the tolerance of nit-wit co-workers, the capable management of copious amounts of clutter, chaos, and commotion and the ability to leap piles of paperwork, damp handkerchiefs and the occasional stray autopsy implement in a single bound.”
When I’m not chained to my 11 ½ hour workday and commute, perpetuating my madcap twitter persona or bowing to the whip of my creative psyche, I am surprisingly attentive, steadfast and sweet as a roasted marshmallow. An incurable ink and paper addict, I fancy myself the patron saint of underdogs, dark horses and lone wolves.

Writing Style:
My stories are 100% character driven. I believe that Character + Conflict/Crisis = Story.
I'm not a plotter or a pantser! I coined a whole new word for myself: PLANTSER!! It means I plot the bones but pants the flesh! My storytelling mojo works like this: a little plotting, a little pantsing and a whole lot of hoping on a wing and a prayer that I can pull it all together!
Secret Confession:
I live in constant fear of the grammar police because I don't write by the book – I write by ear, like a musician (full confession here).
Reading Style:
I read primarily for escapism, for the sheer simple joy of getting carried away by an adventure and caught up in a mystery.
