HEY, folks! Masked Mystery Man Here! About time, huh?!
First of all, thanks for letting me try this judging thing incognito.
Secondly, thanks for your patience. I thought I could just swoop in here all George of the Jungle like and choose winners without so much as a hiccup. Boy was I wrong!
Thirdly, this is going to sound odd but I asked Bullish to NOT comment on your entries until after I made my decision because I didn’t want to be influenced by her. Not that I would be, because it’s not like her opinion is valuable, right?! Who am I kidding. I hang on her every word. Okay, just every other one. But enough kissing up.
Okay – no more stalling!
Honorable Mentions
JB Lacaden: This one has a sort of 70’s schmaltz to it that just got to me. Every last detail crawled into my pores and wouldn’t wash off.
Tori Polen: Knowing this was her choice of song threw me a bit – but thing of it is, she wrote the only story that didn’t take place in our here-and-now, and I really dug that.
Brewed Bohemian: Okay, so I’m not into poetry or drugs BUT this piece made me feel like I’d experienced both – and I mean that in a good way!
Jeff Tsurukoa: Dude had me going til the end. The twist (Holly’s true identity) was killer and that closing line was kickass: He was still down there, staring at those black leather boots, when Holly read him his rights.* Be sure to snag your badge if so inclined (at top of page).
Congratulations everyone
and thanks again to our Mystery Man for judging, even though he was Slow As Dadgum Molasses!!
